Want to take that special someone out for Valentine's Day, but dinner and flowers feels a little...stale? Here's nine events happening locally on Valentine's that go beyond a box of chocolates. (Don't worry, many of these still involve chocolate, because chocolate, right LAAADIEEESSS)

Heart Glassblowing Class
Create your own glass heart in this hands on class. An instructor will guide each person to make their piece, and you can pick it up a couple of days after your class. They supply the materials and safety equipment you will need. Closed toed shoes are strongly encouraged.

BURLESCO at the 9 with LOVE
ALEX Theater is proud to present BURLESCO at the 9 with LOVE. This Valentine’s Day show promises glamour, glitz and sequins with performers Bella Sin, Poppy Poison, Luna Sea and Samantha Echo. Burlesque dancing, music and comedy will on be onstage.
Show is ages 21 and up.
Metropolitan at the 9, 2017 E. 9th Street. 8pm showtime.
Tickets available for $20 for general seating, $25 for premium seating, and $100 for VIP seating.

Orchid Mania
Cleveland Botanical Garden celebrates one of the world’s most exotic and beautiful flowers at the annual Orchid Mania show. Over three thousand orchid flowers in every shape, size, scent and color will hang gracefully in the halls and glasshouses of the Botanical Garden, creating exotic and alluring encounters to warm your winter.
10am – 5pm, $12 per adult, free for members

Great American Comedy Showcase Anti-Valentine's Day Show
Sixth City Comedy presents the Great American Comedy Showcase Anti-Valentine’s Day Show at Lou’s Tavern in Little Italy. Comics include Dwayne Duke, Matt Shaver, Tim Wolfe, Amber Maeda, Katie O’Malley and Tania Simmons.

"Wings of Desire" at the Cleveland Cinematheque
The Cleveland Cinematheque is screening Wim Wenders’ exhilarating, magical tale of an angel in 1987 West Berlin whose love for a beautiful trapeze artist allows him to become human. Peter Falk co-stars in this beloved classic whose expressive mix of black and white and color should look spectacular in this new restoration. Subtitles.

DRAKE PARTY - FAKE REAL LOVE Party!
A dance party that celebrates the one and only Drizzy Drake in the House of Blues Foundation Room!
Entertainment will include HIPS w/ MC Babylon
This event is 21 and over. Valid ID is required for entry into the Music Hall, and no, Drake will not actually be there.

Event begins at 9pm. Tickets $12 in advance, $15 day of the show.

iSCORED! at Date Night - Valentine's Day Cooking Class
Cornucopia Place invites you to skip the hassle of reservations and crowded restaurants this Valentine’s Day! You’ll be teamed up with the one you love to create an awesome meal in a fun and festive atmosphere. During this event you will learn culinary tecniques from Chef Eric Wells. You will also have the opportunity to score points with your date through various activities. This is a fresh alternative to a typical dinner and movie date night. Drinks and aprons will be provided!
This evening will feature:
– Lobster Bisque with Brioche Croutons
– Parmesan and Asparagus Risotto
– Grilled Flank Steak with Shrimp Scampi, Roasted Red Skin Potatoes and Roasted Brussel Sprouts
– Individual Cheesecakes with Mixed Berry Puree

Well, this is certainly taking it to the “next level”, and not recommended for first dates. However, if you’ve been wanting to tie the knot, but are short on time and money, or are looking to renew your vows, than Crocker Park will be performing casual weddings for those who want to get married without all of the planning and pomp.
