Cedar Point rolls out two new eateries designed to thrill

Cedar Point, that roller-coaster kingdom of Sandusky, may be known for high-intensity rides and thrills, but this season they’re proudly unveiling two new restaurants in the park. Think beyond your funnel cakes and hot dogs, these eateries will  introduce some much-needed variety of dining options.

BackBeatQue BBQ Smokehouse

BackBeatQue is a mouthfull of a name, but delivers a lot of flavor. Executive Chef Peter Bucco lays out a Carolina-style barbecue spread for patrons to choose from. With decor that would look at home at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, this rock music-themed spot features fresh carved brisket and pork, fire-spit roasted chicken, and breaded seafood. Homestyle deserts like banana pudding and smoked pecan pie are also available. Seating is outdoors, and features a small stage area. The “Cedar Point Backbeat Quartet” will be performing as live entertainment daily.

Hugo’s Italian Kitchen

With it’s enormous brick oven and generous indoor seating, Hugo’s Italian Kitchen is ready for big crowds and big appetites. You can grab a personal-sized pizza pie, meatball sub, chicken parm or Stromboli. If you’re in the mood for something a bit lighter, try a fresh pasta salad, Caprese salad, Ceasar salad or white bean salad. Just want a dessert? Hugo’s has tiramisu and cannoi that will hit the spot. Big windows and indoor flower beds keep the sunshine in (but also keeps in the air conditioning).

Cedar Point’s opening day of 2019 is this Saturday, the 11th of May.
