The CLE Weekend: What’s going on July 12th – 14th 2019

This weekend you can sample rare tequilas, run a 5k marathon, and watch a few fire-breathers. Here's some highlights of what to do this weekend of July 12th - 14th 2019.

Cain Park Arts Festival

The long-running Cain Park Arts Festival (14591 Superior Road, Cleveland Heights) is a three-day juried outdoor art show featuring local and National vendors.

The festival promises at least 50% new artists on display each year, and showcases painting, sculpture, jewelry, metalwork, photography, hand-pulled prints, wood, ceramics and glass. It’s all within the grassy hills and tree-shaded pathways of the city park. You can also see family-friendly musicians and performers in the outdoor half-shell amphitheater throughout the day.

WHEN: Friday 3-8 pm, Saturday 10 am-8 pm, Sunday 12 Noon-5 pm

Tequila Fest Cleveland

Now in its 8th year, Tequila Fest Cleveland is bringing what promise to be “the biggest tequila and taco party” to the Flats East Bank (1055 Old River Road, Cleveland) this Saturday. Over 50 tequilas to sample, food trucks, food vendors and full bar. There will also be a live music stage, Margarita specials, and other drink specials.

Your basic admission will get you 12 sample tickets, live entertainment, 3 tacos from Barrio stands, a souvenir T-shirt, and access to the cash bar and margarita bar. VIP tickets provide the same package, along early check-in (3:30 pm), tacos and nachos in the VIP area, and a VIP Tequila sampling, with a rare tequila selection including Avión Extra Añejo 44 and Don Julio 1942.

Lakewood Summer Meltdown

It’s the 10th year of Lakewood’s Summer Meltdown street festival and 5k, held to help fund LakewoodAlive’s community housing outreach programs. Held in downtown Lakewood, the event is offering the Meltdown 5K race, 1 Mile Family Fun Run and Walk, street festival, outdoor activities, games, food vendors, beer garden, live music and more.

WHEN: Saturday, 4 pm – 10 pm

COST: Festival is free to the public. 5K is $30 for registration, Family Fun Run & Walk is $12 registration, both ending sign-ups at midnight, July 11th. You can register here.

Summer Cleveland Flea

The ever-popular Cleveland Flea (3602 St. Clair NE, Cleveland) has become one of the most popular places to shop, eat and be seen in the city, and the recent switch from monthly to seasonally has done little to dampen people’s enthusiasm.

The Flea will be showcasing local curated offerings from handmade dealers of home products, art and apparel as well as vintage goods. Also on hand will be plenty of food trucks, photo ops and people with cute outfits and dogs you can admire.

WHEN: Saturday 10 am – 5 pm, Sunday 10 am – 4 pm

COST: $4 entry for adults 18+, $6 entry for a 2-day pass

Hellzapoppin Circus Sideshow

Not a circus for the kids, but the Hellzapoppin’ Circus Sideshow is coming to the Winchester Music Tavern (12112 Madison Ave, Lakewood) promises to be a visual spectacle that hearkens back to the “freak shows” of old.

With performers featured on National TV and Ripley’s Believe It Or Not! museums, you can see sword swallowers, fire eaters, glass walkers, illusionists, human pin cushions and two performers known as the “Half-Man” and “Lizard Man”.

WHEN: Saturday, July 13th. Doors at 8 pm, Show at 9 pm. All ages, but parental guidance strongly suggested.

COST: $15 advance, $20 day of show.
