“Forget the chocolate, let’s forge our own tools” – Blacksmithing and other non-traditional Valentine’s Day events

Valentine's Day is coming up fast, and while dinner and a movie is all well and good, let's say you want to do something a little different with your special somebody (or best friend - there are no rules about Valentine's Day!). Here's some events happening on Valentine's Day (that's the 14th of February, 2020, people) in the Cleveland area this 2020 that will help make the evening especially memorable.

When You Want to Dance

The Happy Dog – The Revolution Brass Band (hear a sample of them covering a Prince classic here) will be playing their fusion of jazz, funk and New Orleans-style brass onstage at the popular hot dog stop. Also promised are valentines, candy and flowers – you’ll have to attend to see how literal those promises are! Event link here.

Prosperity Social Club – Holding what they call a Valen-Tiki-Tini Day party, you can dance and sway to the sounds of Martini Five-O, playing surf, jazz and 1950’s and 60s’ classics. Tiki cluture-inspired drinks and food will also be served. Event link here.

When You Want to Paint

Want to spend your Valentine’s Day creating your own personal work of art? There are plenty of choices when it comes to the popular “Sip and Paint” model of classes, where you can drink some wine (or whatever your beverage of choice is) while getting fool-proof instructions on painting a pre-determined canvas. Here’s a couple locations offering a V-Day evening event.

When You Want to Forge Your Own Tools

Cleveland Blacksmithing – Forge your bond in the fires of love, literally, by taking this beginners blacksmithing class together. Learn how to create hooks, fire pokers, bottle openers, or artistic designwork with steel, fire, and an anvil. Class includes all supplies and personal instruction for a 3-hour experience. Take home whatever you create!

When You Want to Learn to Dance

Le Salsa – No baby will be left cornered at Le Salsa’s Dirty Dancing Valentine’s Day event. Want to be as smooth as Swayze? As graceful as Grey? Then sign up for this beginners course in Salsa, where you can learn the basics of the Latin dance. Champagne will be served, to help you overcome your first-timer fears.  Event link here.

When You Want to Get Married (or watch people get married)

Want to make it a real day to remember? Make it as official as it gets by getting married! Or you can just watch other people get married for a less commitment-based day! When You Want to Eat Cookie Dough OR Roller Skate

Platform Brewery – You are an adult who can drive a car and vote, so who is to say you can’t spend your evening eating cookie dough and drinking beer? At the Valentine’s Day CLE Cookie Dough + Beer Pairing, you can do just that. A collaboration between Platform Brewery and CLE Cookie Dough Co., this ticketed event has three time slots (NOTE: Now there are only two time slots available) that you can claim your exclusive pairings. United Skates of America – Have the coupleskate of your dreams on the roller rink with United Skates of America’s “Eat Your Heart Out Skate” party. This Wickliff-located skating rink is offering at four-hour roller skate party that includes all-you-can-eat cheese pizza. It’s everything 12-year-old you could have ever wanted. Event link here.
