Skip Chipotle: Here’s how to make a great guacamole yourself

“You know the guacamole is extra?” is the phrase that anyone with a Chipote addiction is familiar with. If you have a craving for a bigger serving than small plastic cup, here’s a great recipe to make it yourself, and have a big bowl all to yourself, like a millionaire. It’s very quick to put together, and disappears fast.

Toss the avocado pieces and lime juice together until they are well-coated, then drain the juice out, keeping a tablespoon or two for later. Throw in the salt, cumin, and cayenne and mash it up with a potato masher or a fork. Then stir in the onions, tomatoes, cilantro, and garlic. Add the reserved lime juice. If you can stand it, let it sit (room temperature) before you eat it, so the flavors blend together.
