Frank Jackson announces new state rock song with Bone Thugs-N-Harmony

Today in a press conference, Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson and the members of rap group Bone Thugs-N-Harmony came onstage to announce the new state rock song of Ohio.

“I have great pride in announcing that, as of today, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony’s 1995 classic song ‘First of the Month’ will become the great state of Ohio’s new rock anthem”, declared Jackson.

The previous state rock song, “Hang On Sloopy”, was made popular by rock group The McCoys in 1965. The song is a staple of halftime shows at Ohio State games. The heads of marching band performance have already made plans to start phasing out Sloopy, and are working with Bone Thugs member Bizzy Bone on brass arrangements.

“This is huge for us, huge”, smiled fellow member Wish Bone. “No disrespect to Indiana or Sloopy, but it feels good to have Cleveland represented in a real way.”

Bizzy and Wish joined with Messrs. Krayzie, Layzie and Flesh-n to perform a live version of “First of the Month”, even letting Mayor Jackson in on the chorus.
