Great Lakes Brewing Co. combines cold brew coffee & cold beer today

If you’re going to indulge in a freshly-tapped beer, you want to stay wide awake for it.

Today the Great Lakes Brewing Company teams up with local coffee company Guardian Cold Brew to present “Guardian Blitz Dunkelweisen” – a new coffee beer combo that will only be available on draft at the Great Lakes Brewpub (2516 Market Ave).

Dunkelweisen literally translates to “Dark Wheat” in German, a  beer with deep, malty flavor and low bitter notes. The addition of the cold brew coffee, along with Belgian chocolate and orange peel creates a taste that evokes, according to the company website: “(a) taste like a chocolate covered banana dusted in freshly ground coffee with hints of citrus and clove buzzing subtly beneath.”

You can get a draft of the new brew yourself at the tapping event today. The beer will not be bottled for purchase, so this is your only chance to try this batch’s run. You’ll receive a complimentary 20 oz. glass with your purchase. Happy hour and Guardian coffee cocktails will be available as well.

The event will begin at 4:30 P.M. and run until the bar’s close.
