“May the Fourth Be With You”. What started as a Star Wars meme has become an actual Star Wars event day across America. If you’re looking to celebrate your inner Jedi (solo or with your family) in Cleveland this Saturday, here’s a couple events that are sure to be the good times that you’re looking for.
The Cleveland Brewery (777 E 185th St) is transforming into the Mos Eisley cantina on the 3rd AND 4th of May. Expect the bar to be filled with Droids, aliens and (as normal) every kind of scum and villainy. Stormtroopers, Greedo, Han Solo, Jedi Knights and Chewbacca are all expected to make appearances. The nearby GamerHaven will have Star Wars video games ready to play, and Star Wars Movies on rotation all weekend. Music lovers can take in Figrin D’ and the Modal Nodes (you know, the cantina band) performing a few times each night. Drink and food specials will be going on all weekend at this family-friendly event. The event runs from 6pm – 10pm each night.
Star Wars Day in Coventry Village will be taking over multiple locations along Coventry Road from 12pm-6pm. Bring the family, come in costume and join the fun! The Grog Shop will be turning cantina, featuring games of laser tag. Outside, in Pekar Park there will be “inflatable galaxy jousting”, free face painting. Mac’s Backs Bookstore will be selling discounted Star Wars books and merchandise while local classical quartet OPUS 216 plays live string versions of Star Wars classic music (starting at 11am).
City biking group Crank-Set Rides Star Wars Bike & Bar Crawl will be meeting at Panini’s Bar & Grill (1825 Coventry Rd) to begin a four-stop intergalactic journey. In addition to Panini’s, this 21 and over event will be hitting The Fairmont, Boss Dog Brewing, and finally B-Side Liquor Lounge for a costume contest, raffle and dance party. A $5 donation will get you three raffle tickets for the prize drawing. The event runs from 4pm – 11pm.
Want to create your own Star Wars statement? Busy Bees Pottery & Art Studio (7850 Mentor Ave, Mentor) invites you to “paint the galaxy” with their Star Wars decorative designs and patterns. You can paint your own pottery, create a mosaic, or dig into clay to sculpt your own masterpiece. Busy Bees will be open from 10am-8pm. Prices vary depending on medium.
