Northeast Ohio fall festival guide: Keep safe and have fun this season

Fall brings crisp air, the beauty of changing leaves, and a lot of seasonal fun, from family-friendly to romantic date possibilities. Here are a few of the great events that you can take advantage of this season.

This year, like everything else in 2021, things are running a little differently. We've included all the information available about how each location is taking precautions against the spread of COVID-19.

Pumpkin Festival at Red Wagon Farm

Lake Metroparks Halloween Drive-Thru

Fall Fun:

  • The Halloween Drive-thru event will allow visitors to drive Farmpark’s trails and roadways after dark, experiencing the many playfully frightful sites throughout the park that visitors have come to expect from this event.

Distance from Downtown Cleveland: 34 min; Southeast

Admission: $27.50 per carload. (maximum 3 tickets per household) Lake County residents & Farmpark members sales begin September 26 at 8 am. Out-of-county customers sales begin September 27 at 8 am. Tickets will be sold online only.

When: Starting Oct 7, the Drive-Thru will run Thursday – Sunday until Oct 31. Start times will be 6:30, 7:00, 7:30 & 8:30 pm.

Reservations are required for everyone in your group (2 years of age and older) in order to enter the farm. Appointments are 1 hour and you must complete your visit in that time frame.

Spooky Pooch Parade

Fall Fun: Spooky Pooch is back in-person this year in a new location.

The family-friendly Spooky Pooch Parade consists of a free-to-attend festival at Madison Park, a parade along Madison Avenue and surrounding streets and an awards presentation. judges will award prizes including Best Pooch & Child, Best Pooch & Adult, Best Pooch & Group, Spookiest Pooch and Best in Show. One lucky winner will receive one year’s worth of free dog food. Contestants must register and participate in the parade in order to be eligible to win a prize.

Admission: Free for spectators; The cost of entry is $10 per dog through photo submission, $15 day of event, with proceeds benefiting LakewoodAlive. Details can be found here.

Holden Arboretum "Great Harvest Haunt Experience"

Fall Fun:

The Holden Arboretum is an outdoor living museum on 3,500 acres that promotes the beauty and importance of trees and other woody plants. Follow Ty the Turkey as they search for food to fill this season’s cornucopia. As they talk to different trees/plants along the path, help Ty answer mini riddles to gather nutritious foods required for this turkey’s survival through the winter. Each stop along the trail will highlight a different tree or plant, and the food source they provide to turkeys.
