Jeff "Beachbum" Berry is a well-known figure in the National Tiki Bar community, and brought a Christmastime treat with him while visiting Porco Lounge & Tiki Room in Cleveland. The "Kana Kaloka Swizzle" is a cocktail that brings joy to the Holidays
When you think “Christmas Drinks”, you might think of mulled cider, eggnog or wassail. At Porco’s Lounge and Tiki Room (2527 W 25th), add “topical tiki cocktails” to the list of seasonal treats.
The award-winning Polynesian-inspired bar has joined forces with the Christmas-themed “Miracle” pop-up bars that bring Wintertime joy throughout the month of December, with exclusive themed drinks and decor. But Cleveland gets a very exclusive variant on the theme.
Porco was selected as one of only eleven bars nationwide to get the “Sippin’ Santa” Miracle makeover. Sippin’ Santa is the Tiki take on the holidays, and the brainchild of Jeff “Beachbum” Berry, owner of the Latitude 29 tiki bar in New Orleans, and premiere barware business Cocktail Kingdom. Customers not only get exclusive seasonal creations when they order, but glasses featuring such designs as surfing Santa, festive coconuts, or Santa’s red pants to take home.
For our “Drink This” series, Berry shows off the Kana Kaloka Swizzle, a take on the classic Planters Punch with a spicy twist that should leave you with visions of Sugar Plums dancing in your head. (And visions of a whole lot more, if you keep drinking them.)
You can get your hands on the limited-time drinks through the rest of the month, and to really get festive, you can check out the traditional Miracle bar pop-up at the Spotted Owl in Tremont.
